If you're worried about losing your internet connection (and your stream dropping), you can upload loop-able media files and then configure them in AutoDJ, so they come online if your connection drops.
We also recommend having a cellular backup internet connection, so if your NBN/Starlink drops, it can flick over to using a SIM card to broadcast - avoiding most disruptions from impacting your radio station.
Live connections with AutoDJ will always take precedence over AutoDJ playout, so the restored stream is not a worry. This means when your stream comes back online, it will revert back to using that.
Using AutoDJ as a fallback with a single file is probably the simplest configuration you can setup.
To complete this on an existing station with AutoDJ disabled you can follow these steps.
Enable AutoDJ on existing station:
- Navigate to intended station
- Select Configure
- On AutoDJ tab set the **AutoDJ Type** field to Liquidsoap
- Select Limits Tab and set **# of AutoDJ** to 1 or more
- Select Update Configuration
- Select Mount Points
- On Mount Points page, select Manage -> Manage Mount Point
- Check AutoDJ checkbox
- Select Save
Then, configure AutoDJ:
- Select new Media tab
- Drag and Drop or upload new media file(s)
- Select Playlists
- Select Create Playlist
- Set name and if only using one file set all the repeat protection fields to 0
- Select Tracks on new playlist and set new file(s) to playlist
- Select Save
- On Overview select Source: Not Connected and Start AutoDJ
- Once AutoDJ is online reload page and use new AutoDJ connection details in encoder
We'd recommend setting up a test AutoDJ station to use and get acquainted with the feature.
There's a guide for using AutoDJ here that should help:
